A good life or a good living?
Here’s another one from RulesofThumb.org:
A good life is of more value than a good living.
I don’t even have to reframe that one to make it apply. However, wouldn’t it be great if you could have both?
If you don’t know what you need to buy…
I found a rule I really liked today over on RulesofThumb.org:
If you can’t figure out what you want to eat, you’re not hungry.
I think this goes for spending too – if you go to a store not knowing what you need to buy, you probably don’t need anything!
Positive Money Image
Another one from RuleofThumb.org, talking about having a positive body image:
There will always be someone at the nudist club with a body that looks worse than your own.
Taking a personal finance slant on this, maybe we could go with:
There will always be someone at the bank with a savings account that has less money in it than yours.
Just in case you’re thinking to hell with it, why should I save?
Is there hope for us all yet?
I saw this over on rulesofthumb.org today -
97% of the rich earned their fortunes themselves. 3% of the fortunes are acquired through inheritance. 80% of millionaires are extra thrifty shoppers; many clip coupons. RulesofThumb.org
I don’t know how true the numbers are, but if they’re even close to being right, that means we all have a chance to be ‘rich’.
